Hearts in Ruin Giveaway Postcard

Hearts in Ruin is a delightful romantic romp through an archaeological dig. The author has successfully melded a serious story with a wry sense of humor that keeps it a light and happy romance. Use of details about how a dig comes about and is managed entertain and move us through the plot to become an integral part of the story. I look forward to J.C. Conway’s next book.

–Amazon Reviewer

Not one who normally reads Romance but this book was suggested by a friend. Glad I took the bait! It was well written and kept my attention from start to finish. Can’t wait for his next release and I seem to have found a new subject other than Mystery & Thrillers.

–Amazon Reviewer

Hearts in Ruin is a very well-written and entertaining read and may change my mind about “Romance” novels! Beside the romance of the protagonists, I very much enjoyed the academic intrigue and the humanity of the supporting characters. Compelling story, well-composed!

The Door

Seeing Beyond the Ordinary

The misty morn encircles me

my heart is free and left to be,

within the magic fire of light.

When each day dawns we have a choice

to be the right or to be the fight,

grace filled days and peace filled nights,

are what lie ahead if we only try and see,

the vision that exists without strife.

The way of truth is just behind

the veil of illusion so never fear…

it is there.

Just believe in all the visions of which dreams are made..

know your strength and share your purpose.

Turn the key into the lock,

to open doors through which shine the light,

and guide you to heavenly shores.

About the Author

Christa Maurice photoChrista Maurice spends a lot of time lost in imagination. When not writing, she loves to travel and has spent several years living overseas (literally.) She recently returned to the United States after four years living in Abu Dhabi where the temperature was always hot, the sunrise and sunset were pretty stable year ‘round and she could go weeks at a time without speaking to a man who wasn’t selling her groceries. You know that happens to a woman living in what amounts to a harem situation? She spends a lot of time talking about shoes and thinking about men. Which brings us right back to being lost in imagination…

About the Author
From a small child I’ve loved to lose myself in stories. I’m a firm believer that if heaven exists, it contains every novel ever written and has big squishy sofas to curl up on and read for all eternity.
My comedy play, The Magazine was performed at The Bush Theatre in London and my poetry has been published in several anthologies. However, what I really wanted to write were novels. With several unfinished manuscripts languishing in the depths of my computers hard drive, it was my discovery of erotic romance that led me to the realisation this is the genre I should be writing.
As English as they come, I couldn’t survive without tea. From Rachmaninov to Aerosmith my taste in music is best described as eclectic. And I make a mean chocolate cake.
I currently live in London, England, but dream of moving to the coast. A long held desire I really hope to fulfill one day.
I had an absolute blast writing Beguiled and In Too Deep and I hope you enjoy them, along with book 3 of The Frost Trilogy due to be released late summer 2015. I realise the colloquial dialogue and British idioms may be new to some readers, but Mia is English as am I and she speaks with a definitive English voice – I couldn’t have written my feisty, intelligent, well-read heroine any other way. Maybe I should have included a glossary! LOL

Imminent Release a Perfect Mix of Sweet and Spicy: ONE LAST CALL by Susan Behon

One Last CallSarah Brandon is having the night from Hell.

Thanks to a deer playing chicken in the middle of the road, Sarah is forced to make a frantic ditch dive and gets stuck in her wrecked vehicle. Fiercely independent, the idea of being a damsel in distress chafes more than the seat belt holding her in at an odd angle.

Stranded and needing a rescue, the last person she expects to be her knight in shining armor is Josh Logan. Even with the sexy southern drawl and bad-boy charm, her long lost love could just as well stay lost as far as Sarah is concerned.

She’s had it with men. With a cheating ex-husband trying to win her back and a too sexy for his own good ex-boyfriend trying to make amends, she doesn’t need any more trouble. Trouble finds her anyway when it comes to light that the cause of her accident is no accident. Someone is out to hurt her, and Josh wants to protect her before it’s too late.

Josh considers it fate that he finally has a chance to explain to Sarah why he left town without a word the summer after graduation. It was years ago, but he never stopped loving her. Secrets from the past and threats from the present collide in a dangerous game that could cost Sarah her life. One kiss at a time, Josh is out to prove that he would slay dragons for her if she would only give a lost love found a second chance.

ONE LAST CALL–EXCERPT

“Don’t scream, sunshine. You’ll wake up the neighbors.” Josh was reclined on top of her covers, bare feet crossed one over the other and his hands tucked behind his head. His black T-shirt stood out starkly against the pastel colors of her quilt. His faded blue jeans were slung low and outlined his lower half to perfection.

Sarah didn’t know what had her heart pumping faster, getting startled by seeing a man in her bed or the actual sight of that sexy man reclining on her bed like he belonged there.

“Josh?” Sarah hissed. “What the hell are you doing in here? How did you get in? You better hope my mom didn’t hear you!”

He sat up and ran his fingers through the short layers of his tawny brown hair before rubbing the back of his neck. “Am I the only one here havin’ déjà vu?”

“How did you get in here?”

His grin was anything but innocent. “You should lock your window, darlin’. Anyone could climb on in here.”

“What if my mom heard you? You could have woken her up!”

“Doubt it.”

“Why is that?”

“She’s not here.”

“She’s not?” So Sarah had been tiptoeing for nothing? “How do you know?”

“She’s still with my dad.”

“At this time of night?” Sarah felt ridiculous as soon as she asked the question.

“Yep. Guess they’re havin’ a slumber party.” He raised his eyebrows in innuendo. She ignored the images that volley brought forth.

“Then why didn’t you knock and come through the front door like a normal person?”

“I was feelin’ nostalgic.”

“You’ve never climbed in my bedroom window before.”

“I know. But I wanted to.”

Clouds

Seeing Beyond the Ordinary

The pastel clouds sing out loud,

calling to me like a siren song.

The sight of the puffs which surround my day

and end each night,

fill me with continuous delight.

A constant companion

ever changing  like quiksilver…

ever constant like my heart.

To be a part of the ethereal beauty

in this earthly existence…

Pink, yellow, blue and orange,

sometimes red and mainly white,

add to the mystery of the clouds,

how do they take shape and change,

sailing away like kites?

Heavenly bodies for my imagination

give me comfort, stories and worlds to inhabit…..

just by seeing and dreaming — I’m flying.

Like a flotilla of ships sailing into oblivion

with peace filling their sails like wind,

going towards the horizon,

glowing, shining and changing.
